Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Lekkafy. These Terms are a legally binding agreement between you and Lekkafy Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17378238). By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Lekkafy.

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Lekkafy Ltd. By creating an account or using the service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

2. Description of Service

Lekkafy provides a personal and family budgeting tool that allows users to:

• Manually record and categorise income and expenses.
• Import bank statements (PDF/CSV) for AI-assisted parsing.
• Scan receipts using AI-powered image recognition.
• Set and monitor budgets at individual and family levels.
• Track loans and repayments (lend & borrow records).
• Receive AI-generated spending insights via Lekka.

Lekkafy does not connect to your bank. All financial data is entered manually or imported by you. We are not a financial institution, payment service, or regulated financial adviser.

Lend & Borrow is a record-keeping feature only. When you record a loan between you and another person, Lekkafy does not transfer, hold, or move any money — it is not a payment service. We do not guarantee repayment, verify that a recorded loan reflects reality, or mediate or resolve disputes between the parties to a loan. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you record and for resolving any disagreement about it directly with the other party.

Beta status. Lekkafy is currently in public beta and is free to use, on both web and mobile, with no payment required. Features available during the beta may change, and we may introduce paid plans or usage limits in the future. If we do, we will give you reasonable advance notice and you will not be charged without a clear offer and your agreement to it.

3. Account Registration

You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for:

• Keeping your email account secure, since it is used to receive your sign-in links or codes.
• Activity that occurs under your account as a result of your own action or negligence (for example, sharing your sign-in link or leaving your email account unsecured).
• Notifying us immediately at support@lekkafy.com of any unauthorised use, so we can help secure your account.

You may not share your account with others or create accounts on behalf of third parties without their consent.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Lekkafy only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Use the service to commit fraud, money laundering, or any illegal activity.
• Upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful code.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or access source code.
• Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the service using automated tools without written consent.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service.
• Circumvent any security or access control mechanisms.

5. Financial Disclaimer

Lekkafy is a budgeting and tracking tool only. Nothing in the service constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. AI-generated insights are for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon for financial decisions. Always consult a qualified professional for advice specific to your circumstances.

We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-parsed receipt or statement data. You are responsible for verifying all imported data before relying on it.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, software, and branding that we created — including the Lekkafy name, logo, and application code — is the intellectual property of Lekkafy Ltd and protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other laws.

Lekkafy uses third-party AI models (currently Google's Gemini) to power features such as receipt scanning and Ask Lekka. Those models and the underlying technology remain the property of their respective providers; we do not claim ownership of them.

You retain ownership of all financial data you enter. By using Lekkafy, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process and display your data solely to provide the service.

7. Privacy

Your use of Lekkafy is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review it carefully.

8. Family Features

When you create or join a family group on Lekkafy:

• Visibility. Any entry a family member records — including entries added in Individual mode — is visible to every other member of the family in Family mode, along with who recorded it. Individual mode is a personal filtered view of your own entries; it is not a privacy setting or a way to hide entries from your household.
• Editing. Entries recorded in Family mode can be edited or deleted by any family member, not only the person who recorded them. Entries recorded in Individual mode can only be edited or deleted by the member who recorded them.
• Admins. Any family member can invite or remove other members — Lekkafy does not currently require admin status to remove someone. A family admin has additional account-deletion powers; see "Termination" below.
• Inviting a member requires their explicit consent via the invitation email.
• Removing a member removes their access to the family's shared data going forward. It does not delete their historical entries — those remain part of the family's data, still attributed to that person, unless later deleted individually.
• Because of this shared visibility, we recommend against recording information in Lekkafy that you do not want other members of your household to see.

9. Service Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to Lekkafy. We may perform maintenance, updates, or temporarily suspend access with or without notice. We are not liable for any loss resulting from service interruptions.

10. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time via Settings → Security → Delete Account.

• If you are a regular family member, deleting your account removes your own personal data (profile, individual budgets, categories) and your membership of the family. Family-mode entries you contributed remain part of the family's shared data.
• If you are a family admin, deleting your account deletes the entire family's shared expenses and budgets — for every member, not only your own — and dissolves the family. If you are an admin and want to leave without affecting other members, transfer admin status or remove yourself as a member first rather than deleting your account; contact support@lekkafy.com if you need help with this.
• Deleted data is permanently erased; we do not anonymise or retain it in another form. Backups are purged within 30 days of deletion.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately, without notice, if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct harmful to other users or the service. Where the concern is not urgent, we will give you notice and an opportunity to respond first. If we suspend or close the service generally, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data beforehand where practicable.

11. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:

• Death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
• Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
• Any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Subject to the above, we are only responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our negligence. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable at the time you start using the service.

We are not liable for:

• Loss of income, profit, or business opportunity.
• Loss of data not caused directly by our negligence.
• Any loss arising from your reliance on AI-generated insights, budget suggestions, or categorised transactions — these are informational only and you are responsible for verifying them.
• Service interruptions, downtime, or delays outside our reasonable control.

Where we are liable to you, our liability is limited to direct, foreseeable losses only. We do not accept liability beyond what is caused directly by our own breach or negligence.

If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you may have additional statutory rights that these Terms do not affect.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lekkafy, its affiliates, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless you are a consumer in the EU, in which case you may also rely on the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Lekkafy after the effective date constitutes your acceptance.
